FAQ

1

Why does NDI offer private student loans?

We want to help international students from MCU to pursue a nursing career in the United States to alleviate the national nursing crisis through LMU's BSN program. We understand the global economic inequality may hinder MCU's qualified international students from obtaining nursing training through LMU as tuition rates are substantially higher in the US. Considering there is a lack of private student loan available for international students in the US, we established the NDI, a non-profit organization, which works with US hospital sponsors to help fund nursing candidates from MCU through their BSN schooling in LMU.

2

How do NDI's private student loans work?

Private student loans is offered by NDI to MCU students admitted into LMU's BSN program and cover their 3rd & 4th year tuition cost, room & meal plan, and stipend to supplement other university and living cost. Note that both tuition and room & meal plan are paid directly to LMU at university payment due dates, while stipend will be allocated to students on a monthly basis.

3

Am I eligible to get private student loan from NDI?

You must be a current MCU student AND obtained all prerequisite credits AND fulfilling the English language proficiency requirements for LMU's BSN program admission.

4

How can I get private student loan from NDI?

You may fill in the free Application form to apply for NDI's private student loan once you applied for transferring to LMU's BSN program. The loan offering is conditional based on your acceptance to LMU's BSN program.

5

When should I submit the private student loan application?

NDI's private student loan applications are open to students from October 1st of the pre-award year. The deadline for submitting the completed application is June 30th of the award year.

6

Do I have to repay the private student loan?

When you apply for the private student loan, you are, in effect, borrowing money from the NDI. You will have to repay the amount that you borrowed unless you fulfilled your 3YR post-grad work obligation to qualify for student loan forgiveness.

7

How does loan forgiveness work?

Your private student loan is sponsored by a US hospital partner. Once you graduated from LMU and passed the NCLEX RN exam, you will be assigned to work in your sponsor's hospital for 3 years with renumeration and benefits according to national standards. Your loan amount will be forgiven on a monthly basis. Once you have fulfilled your 3YR work term, your entire student loan amount is forgiven.

8

When do I have to start repaying my private student loans?

Typically, you will have to start repaying your private student loans within 6 months of graduating or within 6 months of dropping below the GPA requirement—this is called a grace period, or when you voluntarily or involuntarily terminated your employment at the sponsoring hospital before completing the 3YR service term.

9

How can I find out how much I owe?

The fastest way to find out how much you owe is by checking directly with your NDI student loan servicer.
